Opti just posted this little update about the 180 release:


Photon Man is almost done putting all the 1.80 maps together. He started at around 850MB of maps and textures. Then he deleted unused textures and fixed BSP holes. The map and texture files are much smaller now but we still don't have the final size. 

Photon is working on getting new muzzle flash textures in for 1st and 3rd person. 

I am still tweaking character and weapon specs. Sonic is walking me through various code changes so we can fix certain problems in the code base. 

So we expect to have the final text version done on Sunday. At that point we will test for a few days and then release 1.80. Just wanted to keep you guys informed. 

We used 1.70 as our code base...... this was our final choice after looking over options like frame rate, inv lag problems, bugs, etc.

Opti announced that version 180 will be released this weekend...

Features in 180 according to Opti:
Build on the 170 code base.
All weapons except the M203 will be included.
The character system have fast/light (75 health), medium (100 health) and slow/heavy (125 health) characters.
All the maps from the officielle SF releases, some the community made and "After the Fall" wil be included, there is at the moment no information about the TBuildt Maps.

Tyrol
Kries planed to release Tyrol with SF180 but has chosen to release it now.
Tyrol is a pretty big map with 4-5 routes from each side but it dosnt get to big because all the buildings have been sealed off.
Kries made some new textures for this map so theres also something nice to look at while playing it.

The group drawings for the Nations cup has been made and looks like this:
Group 1: Austria, Belgium, France and Denmark
Group 2: England, Coach Team, Hungary and Sweden
Group 3: Ireland/Scotland/Wales, Balcan team, Finland and Italy
Group 4: Germany, Spain, The Netherlands and Norway

Opti decided to make a poll about which codebase should be used for the upcomming 1.80 release so he released 180IR2 for evaluation.

Vote on which codebase you think is the best choice to continue to work on.

REMEMBER!!! SF1.75 is still the official release the 1.81Alpha is only a test release.
